We are very proud to announce our 5th Annual Sydney’s 5k and 10k Run which will take place on Sunday April 03, 2016 at Rio Vista Park. All proceeds will benefit individuals with Autism, Cognitive Disabilities, Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy and other health issues.
Last year we were able to raise $2200. This year’s target sponsorship is $5,000! We are asking you to partner with us to make this year’s Sydney’s Run a big success!!! All proceeds raised will be used to support the Advanced Independence Day Program for young adults with special needs.
Who is Sydney?
Sydney’s Run was created in honor of our very own beloved and courageous Sydney Nicole Winston, who was a client of Advanced Independence for several years. Sydney was born with a rare, progressive, and degenerative illness known as Spinal Cerebra Ataxia, also known as Friedreich’s Ataxia. We lost Sydney in December 2010, but her beautiful spirit continues to burn bright within our organization.

Advanced Independence, L.L.C was established in 2007 and in the past eight years has served over 300 clients. Our Mission Statement is “Empowerment is Growth Within; Where Every Moment is a Learning Moment”, and we use this philosophy to help improve the lives of the individuals we serve by providing goal-oriented activities designed to promote self-confidence, and by teaching important life skills to support independent living.
Advanced Independence celebrates individuality and recognizes different ways people can learn. Through a process known as Individual Support Plan (ISP), we create strategies utilizing many community based programs that promote individual creativity. We praise the efforts and successes of our clients on a regular basis. We also equip the families of our clients with information and tools to assist their children in becoming independent and productive members of society.
